Wadi hafla © 2009: oud music for bellydancers
The tracks Jazzy fusion bellydance: or Oriental belly jazzdance. Inspired by a famous international oriental dancer, Abdel Hazim took some risks in producing his fifth album. The prominent use of trumpet on 3 of the 7 tracks gave bellydance music a taste of mediterranean jazz. Three other track feature cello and are deeply rooted in oriental music. Wadi hafla is sometimes jazzy, sometimes Sufi, sometimes straight oriental bellydance, sometimes funky. Unlike the Tribal bellydance, Bellydance revolutions and Fusion bellydance CD's, Wadi hafla doesn't contain tracks where Abdel Hazim didn't play all the instruments himself. On some tracks trumpet is very prominent like "Tahia Carioca in blue", a bellyjazz track on a khaleezji beat.
