Osama Abdulrasol
Master in of the qanoun, an Arabic string instrument. Osama Abdulrasol was born in 1968, Babylon, Iraq. This real grandmaster of Qanun is featured on the CD "Bellydance revolutions" where he plays on "Zarmina", "Bellydance revolutions", "Beledia", Harmattan (a track which is used in the American movie Isle of succession) and "Takkasim Qanun".
Osama is known from his work together with Oblomov, Goran Bregovic, Olla vogalla, Melike, Djamel, Arifa (an ensemble with Mehmet Polat, Alex Simu and Sjahin During) and many others.
He studied Western music in the U.S.A. and classical guitar in England - and even played heavy metal - and Oriental music in Iraq. As heavy metal musicians in Iraq were close to being prosecuted, he fled to Belgium. Osama Abdulrasol mastered the ud and qanoun in Baghdad.
