OUT NOW!!! Dancing in the oasis, World Fusion expeditions for innovative bellydancers

Abdel Hazim: "Some of the songs really don't go anywhere. They are melodies that come up and go away, just like thoughts. Sometimes they encounter a listerer, sometimes they inspire someone. I simply pick up the waves that come into my direction and transmit them by an instrument."
    with guest musicians
  • Al Khader
  • Pete Whiterose
  • Sheikh Dabelli

After Zahdee, Abed Halabi, Sadig el Gibril, the oud player on this album will be El Khader.
El Khader known for his projects "Al kholoud" and "Djem" worked together with Osama Abdelrasol, Luc De Vos, Wannes Van de Velde and Vera Coomans in the Djar project.

Azzedine Jazouli gave a lot of inspiration concerning the rhythmic side, like the use of the harazi and tarija on Atlas. Some tracks are real chill-out dance fusion

Percussion: Sheikh Dabelli

The dunes of Merzouga features a suling or Indonesian flute together with the Ethiopian Masinko as main instruments on a slow 6/8 beat. This tune was created by improvising on a Morrocan beat on bendir.

Dancer of Palmyra focusses on a maqsoum rhythm mingled with guitar and strings.

Wasta is definitely rockabelly stuff, guitar being the main instrument.

Besides the Indonesian suling flute, another special instruments on this album is the gopichand or gubgubbi also known as khammak, and popular Bengal string percussion device used by the Baul but also in Nepal.

Abdel Hazim: "Working on the seventh album, we produced enough songs so that some music can be performed by the Abdel Hazim ensemble". Midan al tahrir and Raqs al Atlas are already on the setlist.

Some reviews of "Transcendent bellydance" found on the internet:

"Abdel Hazim's different approach to belly dancing music is once again confirmed on his sixt CD. The intriguing surnai or zurna and guitar mark the album. Two tracks are solo duduk pieces but the percussion still dominate the rest of the compositions.
Al miftah ila qalbak (or the key to your heart) is a romantic belly dancing shifte-telli. Between Tigris and Euphrates is build upon an Iraqi rhythm. An tribal evolution into a mix with funky congolese guitar playing illustrates here the meaning of Transcendent bellydance."
